Upload files with Orbot on your smartphone

You can't upload files with "Tor Browser for mobile". "Desktop mode" doesn't work, too.

"Brave for desktop" including Tor but "Brave for mobile" doesn't include Tor.

You can install IceCatMobile from F-Droid.

  1. Install Orbot from F-Droid or Google Play Store.
  2. Start Orbot to connect Tor network.
  3. Toggle "VPN Mode" of Orbot to turn it on.
  4. Click ⚙ to add your web browser to "Tor-Enabled Apps". IceCatMobile and Brave work well without additional settings to connect to clearnet. https://check.torproject.org/ https://whatismyipaddress.com/ But if you want to connect to darknet, you need additional settings.
  5. Type about:config in the address bar on IceCatMobile.
  6. Input the below values.
network.proxy.socks = 127.0.0.1
network.proxy.socks_port = 9050
network.proxy.ssl = 127.0.0.1
network.proxy.ssl_port = 8118
network.proxy.type = 1

Don't input the below values. Some guides say it is necessary, but it will make an error.

network.proxy.http = 127.0.0.1
network.proxy.http_port = 8118

Bridges

If your country censors your Tor using, you should use a bridge.

Touch "Trouble connecting? Use Bridges".

Touch "Connect through community servers". It doesn't work in my country.

Touch "Connect through cloud servers". It works well in my country.

Touch "Request New Bridges... (If all else fails)".

Request New Bridge

You can get a bridge address through email, the web or by scanning a bridge QR code. Select 'Email' or 'Web' below to request a bridge address.

Once you have an address, copy & paste it into the "Bridges" preference in Orbot's settings and restart.

On the beneath pop-up, there are three buttons: EMAIL, CANCEL, WEB. If you touch the EMAIL button, you will send a email to bridges@torproject.org and they will send a reply to you. If you click the WEB button, you will see a CAPTCHA. And if you solve the CAPTCHA, you will see addresses and port numbers of bridges. Copy them and paste it into this place (Orbot -> Settings -> Bridges (IP address and port of bridges)). You can see the below pop-up.

Enter Bridge Addresses

meek

CANCEL OK

Delete meek, and paste IP address and port of the bridges that you copied. It works well in my countries.

If you want to use a bridge in Tor Browser, see the Tor article.
